Lingo Music Lessons

            Welcome to Lingo Music Lessons!

I offer weekly individualized lessons in 30, 45, 60, or 75 minute increments.  I also teach group classes for Elementary Music Discovery.  Contact me for schedule and pricing.  Sorry, I do not offer every other week lessons as I have found it becomes detrimental to the student’s success.

For individualized lessons, I adapt the curriculum to meet the needs and tailor it to fit each student.  Primarily, I teach from the Alfred series for piano students, and full voice series for elementary / middle school voice students.  I also use standard of excellence for band, Essential Elements for orchestral instruments as well as supplement any band music the student receives from school. Using these standards with supplemental materials including ear training techniques, sight reading activities, theory, and musical composition I maintain a holistic approach to music.   All books are to be purchased through the instructor as I usually have them in stock.  Instruments may be rented from a local music store of your choice.  I'd be glad to get you in touch with one if you need help.

There are opportunities for rewards throughout the school year with the perfect practice and perfect attendance awards where students earn gift cards for practicing and attending their scheduled weekly lessons.   Opportunity for an annual recital that allows you or your student to perform in front of parents/peers and friends with a gracious and encouraging audience.

As an active student you may pay online using the secure login to this website, Zelle, check or cash.  There is even an automatic payment option (please see payment policy after login for more details).

I encourage, and inspire your student to be the best possible musician they can be through praise of their musical accomplishments, no matter how small, and ignite them to practice with vigilance, passion, and perseverance. I keep track of your students practice using practice record sheets; this help keep the students accountable, and also spurs you to take an active role in furthering the commitment of your student to practice.  Should your student begin to miss the set practice goal for the week (and they all do at one time or another), please do not cancel the lesson as there is always something that I can teach them that will be applicable to where they are at that particular moment whether in music theory, ear-training, sight-reading or other related skills.

Group classes for Elementary Music Discovery, I use Music for Little Mozart's curriculum and supplement it with Silver, Burdett, and Ginn Music Curriculum tailored to the level of the group.  I offer whatever level you may need.  For example, the general introduction to music class, students will learn highs and lows in pitch, basic rhythm, meter, timbre, musical phrases, and forms (AB, ABA, Rondo, etc…).  It includes various types of music including but not limited to Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and Modern time periods, both sacred and secular music.  Students will get hands on making music with many various classroom instruments from around the world and an attempt at a few of the orchestral instruments, as well as piano.  Focus will be on keeping steady beat, playing rhythms, matching pitch while singing including basic solfege, playing rhythm and pitched instruments and singing in a group, and developing listening skills to identify types of music and instruments that they are hearing. For home-school groups I can also complete grades and list out the skills of each student's accomplishments for district reporting.
