Lingo Music Lessons

Hi, I am Scott Lingo.  I began my journey as a musician by starting piano lessons at age 6.  When I reached 4th grade, I began percussion lessons and played in the band through middle school. In 8th  grade I participated in the Association of Christian Schools International fine arts festival attaining an Excellence Award in Piano Performance. By the time I reached high school I was singing and accompanying in traveling choirs, giving recitals, and composing music. As a senior, I received a “Superior” award in Piano Composition.

I continued my education over the years and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Bible and a Masters of Arts in Bible from Lancaster Bible College and Graduate School. I also hold the state of Pennsylvania Music Teacher K-12 Certificate as well as Association of Christian Schools International All Levels Music and Bible Teacher Professional Lifetime Certificate. All of my required clearances are maintained and up to date including:

PA School Code Section 1418 - TB Test

I have taught English as a second language in Spain and sang in a choir that debuted Mendelssohn's Elijah in Castilian Spanish in Spain (though I myself do not speak Spanish fluently).

I have taught music K-12 in a variety of settings since 2000 both full time and part time as well as a substitute teacher in public schools and Christian schools including Lancaster Mennonite High School and New Danville, Locust Grove, Dayspring Christian Academy, Linville Hill Mennonite, Lampeter-Strasburg, Penn Manor, Solanco School District, Manheim Township, School District of Lancaster, York City School District, Pequa Valley School District, Elizabethtown, Christian School of York, and Milton Hershey School.

Not only do I have experience teaching various other subjects as a teacher, but also have held the title of Homebound Instructor and Instruction in the Home Teacher for Solanco and Lampeter-Strasburg School Districts working with special needs students.

When asked what my favorite instruments are, I must say the harpsichord, the piano and the pipe organ.  The harpsichord is one of the exiting instruments that I love to teach at my studio.    The piano is where I can express myself through music, and the pipe organ as it fills the room with sound.  I have been an organist at various churches since I was 18 years old, accompanying choirs, and then passionately becoming a choral director of large groups with as many as 120 voices to as small as 4 voice ensembles. I have a love of assembling and conducting orchestras, bands, hand bell choirs, tone chime choirs, praise teams, and congregational worship both accompanied and a cappella. Currently I am the Director of Music Ministry at Calvary Monument Bible Church in Paradise.

While I was the full time Pastor of Music and Outreach at Pennsville Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant, Pa, my wife and I began our family.  We have three wonderful school aged children whom we love very much.  When not teaching, I enjoy traveling with my family to various museums, bowling, swimming, hiking, and model railroading.
